We are a local AmDram Group situated in Horfield United Reformed Church, Bristol.
The Whitefield Players were founded in 1999 by David Goddard and members of the Church congregation following the renovation of Phoenix Hall and its stage. David, using a script he had previously written, directed and produced Babes in the Wood and Robin Hood in February 2000.
In 2001, we were joined by Tracy Rogers and Helen Dunn. Together they directed our second and third pantos – Aladdin and Cinderella. Tracy went on to write and direct all subsequent shows with assistance from Tim Scaplehorn, our Panto ‘Baddy’. Tracy’s scripts are available for hire from Stardust Scripts.
Presently, our talented group consists of: two Directors; a Musical Director; two Choreographers; Lighting and Sound Engineers; two Stage Managers; a Costume Designer and maker; two Scenery Designers and artists; and approximately 30 cast members of all ages.
With Tracy and Tim as directors, we perform two shows a year: a Christmas Pantomime in January and a summer Variety Show. The group meet most Sunday afternoons for rehearsals at The Phoenix Hall at 2:30pm for three hours. For full details see the Rehearsal Schedule.
The Whitefield Players are always looking for new members and talent in the lead up to and / or on the night of performances. Anyone wanting to pursue and acting ambition or showcase a artistic or technical flair – all ages and experiences are welcome! You just need commitment and a good sense of humour!
